First, because Christine doesn't blog anymore, I'll share with you how cute and Halloween-y her house is decorated.

It took me a couple weeks to decide what to do for a costume. I had plenty of goodies (read: belly dancer outfits) purchased in the Middle East to choose from, but none of them seemed quite right. In addition, Ken invited me to accompany him to our friend Severin's Halloween party which meant we needed a more couple-y costume.

After much contemplation, we settled on Ken & Barbie. It's an idea that has been considered each of the last three years, but it never quite seemed right. (Mostly because I'm all too aware of how un-Barbie I am...) But this year I found some great costumes that made being Ken & Barbie pretty easy so we went with it. It turned out to be really cute and fun.
Our first stop for the evening was Megan and Reed Olsen's spooky halloween photo hunt. They had a really fun game where each group got a list of things they needed to find and photograph around town. Whoever found the most items on the list within the time frame won. The list included things like pitchfork, fake mullet, real mullet, political candidate mask, fake boobs, someone drunk, more than 6 jack-o-lanterns on a porch, someone drunk, vampire costume, inappropriate use of spandex, creepy moustache, someone shirtless... who needs one, guy-liner, fishnets, most disturbing costume, etc.
It was so fun collecting these photos! We stopped first at the line outside of Muse Music. There were so many that could've won the "most disturbing" award but this guy's hand decoration takes the cake. I still don't understand how it works but it's gross...
On to the 15th Stake Halloween party at the Smith Fieldhouse where we struck gold. There were some very impressive costumes at that party. We were able to find almost every single item on the list! All while collecting some great stares for our non-dress-code-abiding costumes. I didn't really plan to be on campus that night, sorry.
We definitely found the most pumpkins!
The Olsen's party ended in the Maeser Building on campus so Kirst and I had to do a little pose with Brigham.

Ken & SeverinSeverin was in the MAcc-Tax program with me but decided to do the JD/MAcc so this year he's in law school. Ken and Severin have become good friends.
Last one... Ken didn't want to wear his plastic yellow hair but it really completed the outfitOverall the night was a success. I had one fun-sized Kit Kat which was all I really felt like having anyway. Who knew all my sugar consumption of yesteryear was mostly habit rather than actual desire. All those wasted calories...

What an amazing Barbie you make! Totally against the honor code! That's crazy about the fun sized kit kat being all you even wanted. I've found that the temptation is less and less significant as the time goes by. It's amazing. Although passing up Breyer's rocky road ice cream tonight was somewhat sad.
Thank you for including a photo of my MIA sister Christine. I tried to shame her into a blog post via Skype today/yesterday. I see I had no effect on her. Maybe she'll see my comment here.
Seriously, you looked amazing! Where did you find the dress?
Wow thanks for all the pics. We were hoping you'd come trick or treat at our house so we could see you. You look fabulous.
Rach, you look amazing as Barbie! Seriously...
Funny you should mention doughnut eating strategies. Here's one that Ie Li and I used as we participated in a couples doughnut eating contest (there was one doughnut hanging on a string for us to eat together) Our strategy was for Ie Li to hold the doughnut in her teeth while I ate the whole thing. It ended up being very effective. You should give it a try some time.
Your Halloween looks very fun, lots to do. And you look amazing, you and Ken make a great Barbie and Ken.
Annee, I'm sorry I haven't been immediate in my return to the blogging world, it is not because you have had no effect on me, you definitely have. I'll make you a deal, after this week, which is test week and quite stressful as is, I will make my return. So keep a look out for me.
It's a deal Christine!
Thank you Rachel, for giving me and Christine somewhere to chat and exchange ideas.
yes just doing what i can! i have high hopes that she'll follow through on her commitment to return. if nothing else, she can blog about their weekly craft night. or her weekly horse riding excursions. or about how last week she drove all the way to pei wei in sandy for a delicious dinner only to realize upon arriving that she forgot her wallet. and they wouldn't take a personal check. that's so blog-worthy.
steve, that's an excellent method donut eating method! stabilization is so key. we should add a donut eating contest into the next Zackrison Family Beach Week. I'm serious. It would spice things up a bit. In fact, we should add all sorts of games in. This could be good...
It appears I switched to proper capitalization halfway through this comment. Weird...
I love love love your costume.
They have a weekly craft night, and I have not even heard of it, nor seen the subsequent results of such nightly crafting? It's almost an outrage? Are we sisters, or are we not?
I know she will return. I totally have faith in her. She will not let us down.
And she forgot her wallet after an hour or driving to eat some delicious food? She better be writing her blogging world return rough draft right now.
You ARE Barbie (dressed-up as Rachel 364 days a year.)
Hurray for Beach Week ideas, and creative ways to eat donuts.
Love you all.
You looked so beautiful Rachel!! Thanks for showing the pictures!
You look gorgeous in your Halloween photos. And thank you thank you thank you for the belly dancing ensemble. It made a great costume.
